Abstract
1,094,430. Air r drier. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Sept. 30, 1964 [Oct. 29, 1963], No. 42651/63. Heading B1L. An air drier containing a solid desiccant S and attached in service to an apparatus which breathes in a cyclic manner has a portion of the inlet pipe admitting atmospheric air to the drier of sufficient cross sectional area and length to form a chamber G having a capacity at least equal to the volume of air which passes into the apparatus through the drier in one cycle thus retaining a constant volume of dry air in the desiccant during opera- - tion and preventing the introduction of additional amounts of undried air to the desiccant. The chamber may contain baffles or upper and lower perforated plates and fibreglass or cotton wool packing to prevent diffusion of undried air with dry air. The drier may be used so that the connection to the breathing apparatus is at its lower end in which case the upper end is kept warmer than the lower end. An oil trap may be used as in Specification 1,047,516.
