Abstract
1,094,244. Animal feeding appliances. BOX FED LIVESTOCK Ltd. June 9, 1966 [June 29, 1965], No. 27447/65. Heading A1M. [Also in Divisions B1, B8 and G1] In an animal feeding device a rotating measuring scoop 6 (see also Figs. 3-6, not shown) sweeps a pre-determined quantity of milk powder from hopper 2 into shoot 16 whence it falls into the mixing container 20, while liquid is introduced from reservoir 32 through pipe 31; when a predetermined weight of water has entered container 20 it tilts to actuate a switch (30, Figs. 7 and 9, not shown) operating solenoid valves 33, 37 (see also Fig. 8, not shown) which respectively stop the water supply, and open outlet pipe 36 whereby the animal can draw the mixture through the teat 39. There is a stirrer 21 which works continuously or in unison with the scoop 6, and electrical heaters 33, 34. Rocking of the container 20 to the empty position initiates the supply of the mixture ingredients.
