844,969. Powder mixing appliances. ROFFELSEN, F. Oct. 24, 1958, No 34068/58 Class 86 [Also in Group XXX] A powder and granular material blending and mixing appliance comprises a vertical hopper 1 rotatable about its axis and a helical stirrer 9 of opposite hand to the direction of rotation of the hopper, having a scraper 13 and slidable by rollers 8 on a fixed guide member 6 of preferably flat rectangular cross-section. The stirrer is attached by a wire 10 to a counterweight 12 insufficient to balance completely the moving parts. When the hopper is filled the stirrer rises to the surface of the material by interaction therewith of the helix 9; a funnel-shaped cavity is scraped in the material, and the loose material passes down an axial cylindrical cavity formed by the action of the member 6, into a screw conveyer 3. Means 15, 16 may be provided to indicate the level of material at the hopper, and may actuate automatic refilling means.
