Abstract

1,094,159. Lintels. MODERN BUILDING WALES Ltd. April 27, 1965 [Feb. 3, 1964], No. 4570/64. Heading E1K. A metal lintel comprises a web 11 having a crosspiece 10a, 10b at one edge having keying means 15 on the outer face of the part 10a for plaster, and the other edge having a flange 11c parallel with the crosspiece which comprises two parts, one 10b integral with the web 11 and having a drip lip 14 and the other 10a welded to the web by means of a short flange 10c. The web 11 may have an inclined part 11b. Various modifications are shown including a lintel of simple substantially Z section and also composite Z sections such as shown in Fig. 4 and composed of two parts 40, 41 welded together. The oppositely directed flanges of the lintel may be embedded in the two parts of a cavity wall and form a damp course.
