Abstract

109,358. British Thomson - Houston Co., (General Electric Co.). Dec. 14, 1916. Drawings to Specification. Argon; krypton; neon; xenon.-High vacua are produced in X-ray tubes &c. by absorbing residual gases, oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen, water vapour, oxides of carbon, &c. by metals of the rare earth group, particularly thorium and zirconium. The invention is also applicable for the purification of rare gases.
