Abstract

1,093,523. Spectral analysis apparatus. BECKMAN INSTRUMENTS Inc. Nov.23, 1964 [Jan. 21, 1964], No.26315/67. Divided out of of 1, 093, 522. Heading G2J. [Also in Division F4| A burner for spectroscopic analysis has a burner head consisting of two symmetrical pieces 98, 100 fastened together by screws 106, 108 to define a narrow slot 110 and an elongated metal strip 111 is positioned between the pieces 98, 100 to divide the slot 110 into a pair of narrow slits 112, 114. Metal strips 111 of different thickness may be thus inserted at will to vary the width of flame produced by the burner. A chimney 84 slidable over the burner has a window 86 for the light beam of a monochromator and a flow of air between the chimney and the burner supplies the flame and cools the burner.
