965, 543. Grating spectrographs. HILGER & WATTS Ltd. Nov. 2, 1960 [Nov. 4, 1959], No. 37435/59. Heading G2J. A spectrograph has an entrance slit 2, a concave grating 1 and one or more exit slits for the spectral lines, there being disposed behind said slits photomultipliers 11. In order to photograph the spectral lines, the entrance slit 2 is made movable so that the focus of the spectral lines may be shifted towards the grating, for example, to 7 where means may be disposed for locating the photographic material. Such means may be removable or can remain in position when the spectrograph is used for direct reading.
