Abstract

1,093,116. Fluid-pressure servomotor systems. AMERICAN NATIONAL VALVE CORPORATION. Jan. 12, 1966 [Jan. 18, 1965], No. 1479/66. Heading G3P. [Also in Division F2] The petrol tank filling device has a main valve member 51, 52 opened by a lever 9 retained by a spring catch 61. An adjustable restrictor 67 in the flow passage sets up a pressure difference which is automatically applied to a leaky piston 78 to close the main valve when the tank is full. One side of the piston is open to the entry pressure through the enlarged inlet passage 16. Pressure on the other side is released to a chamber 26 downstream of the restrictor 67 through a release valve 84 operated by a diaphragm 87. The diaphragm is permanently open to atmosphere on one side through a hole 92 and also normally on the other side through a passage 101, annular chamber 34, passages 103, 104 and vent tube 107 opening from the side of the nozzle 11. On closure of this vent by the liquid level, pressure on the diaphragm is depressed through passages 99 leading from annular chamber 34 to a Venturi throat-forming seat surface 34 of a check valve 34, and release valve 84 is opened. A second check valve 111 upstream of the restrictor 67 is more strongly biased than the first and ensures operation of the piston 78 if the inlet pressure should fall. The main valve has a flat seating plastics closure part 52.
