Abstract

1,091,993. Feeding sheets. CIBA Ltd. July 6, 1966 [July 12, 1965], No. 30407/66. Heading B6B. A feed catch for ensuring straight feed of sheets 12 comprises check levers 4, 4<SP>1</SP> mounted for rotation with a shaft 3 positioned between side members 2, 2<SP>1</SP> on a base 1, the lower ends of the levers resting in slots 10, 10<SP>1</SP> in the base. Pawls 6, 6<SP>1</SP> are pivotally mounted on the levers and rest in slots 11, 11<SP>1</SP> in the base. The front ends of the slots 11, 11<SP>1</SP> are aligned with the rear ends of the slots 10, 10<SP>1</SP>. A correctly fed sheet engages and raises both pawls, thereafter engages the levers and raises them out of the slots, rotating the shaft against a spring 8. If the sheet is askew, one of the pawls is not raised, and acts to prevent raising of the lever to which it is pivoted, whereby the shaft cannot rotate and neither lever can be raised. The sheet may then swivel into correct register so as to release the second pawl. Further levers and pawls may be positioned between those shown.
