Abstract

1,091,957. Generators operating by electromagnetic interaction with fluids. SIEMENS SCHUCKERTWERKE A.G. March 2, 1965 [March 11, 1964], No. 8959/65. Heading H2A. In an MHO generator having helical plasma flow the magnet windings 8, 9 are excited with A.C. and the electrodes 6 forming the axial ends of the duct are electrically interconnected at the periphery of the duct by conductors parallel to the axis 7 of the helix. The conductors are formed by longitudinally extending segments of conducting material 11 spaced apart by insulating material 10 and forming the outer wall of the duct 1. By connecting the electrodes together a circumferentially directed Hall current I H is produced which induces an output current in the magnet windings. The effect of centrifugal force is also reduced since the magnetic field produced by the circulating main current interacts with the current between the electrodes to produce a radially inwardly-directed force on the plasma.
