Abstract

1,091,617. Centrifugal casting-machines. CENTRE DE RECHERCHES DE PONT-AMOUSSON. July 7, 1966 [July 26, 1965], No. 30561/66. Heading B3F. [Also in Division B5] The core N of a centrifugal casting mould M for casting pipes T having end sockets 5 is supported on a cup member S that is withdrawn from the pipe T at the end of a casting operation by extending a jack V and then moved out of line from the pipe T by extending another jack W that rotates a handling arm B about a shaft D and enables the finished pipe to be withdrawn and a new core attached to the cup member. The core N is located in the cup member S by an extension (11) (Fig. 3, not shown) and is clamped to the mould M by means of flanges (10) being held between a face (8) of the mould and a face (14) of the cup member S. The cup member S is pressed into the mould by means of a locking ring 18 engaging in a recess 17 and being provided with a supply 23 of compressed air that is forced out through outlets (24) against a friction ring (25) so that the locking ring is held stationary whilst the cup member S rotates with the mould M. Pivot connections 26, 27 are provided between a stirrup member E and the locking ring 18 and between the stirrup member E and the handling arm. The core support may be used for producing cast iron, plastics or cement based material pipes and the core may be of plastics, elastic or metallic material.
