A cooking vessel comprises a first saucepan 1 and a second saucepan 2 which are engageable with each other in different ways to cook food by different methods. Nested, as shown, the saucepans form a double boiler. Alternatively saucepan 2 may be mounted in the mouth of saucepan 1, with the base resting on supporting shoulder 1a, or the saucepans may be arranged mouth to mouth, a perforated disc being positioned on shoulder 1e to separate different foods. In modifications, saucepan 2 also has a supporting shoulder, the supporting shoulders are curved, discontinuous, or are formed by projections or are inclined, engaging surfaces of the saucepans being at different inclinations to allow steam to escape. An annular collar or a perforated sleeve is secured to the disc. Handles may be provided on the saucepans. The saucepans may have oval or polygonal cross-sections. The mouths of the saucepans may be widened and a lid fitting both saucepans is provided.
