Abstract
1,091,426. Centrifugal separators. OY TAMPELLA A.B. March 11, 1966 [March 12, 1965], No. 10855/66. Heading B2P. In a centrifugal steam separator 6 a film 11 of clean water is formed on the interface between a steam-water mixture and separated steam so that as the steam separates from the mixture, it undergoes thorough cleaning by penetrating the film 11 while crossing the interface. The steam-water mixture is supplied via riser tubes 3 into a collector channel 5 inside a boiler steam drum 1 and is fed tangentially into a number of separators such as 6. The film 11 is formed by spraying clean water into each separator by means of one or more nozzles 8 arranged in the top wall, as shown, or side wall of the separator. Alternatively, the feed water spray is fed through a pipe which passes through the water space of the separator. The clean steam on leaving the separator passes through a coalescer 12 into the steam space and thence via a drier 7 into discharge pipes such as 13. The water leaves the bottom of the separator and enters the water space 2 from which it passes back to the boiler through pipes 4.
