Abstract

1,091,226. Fuelling reactors. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. Oct. 20, 1966 [Nov. 4, 1965], No. 47029/66. Heading G6C. In order to align a fuelling machine 1 with a selected horizontal fuel channel of a reactor having a charge face 10, the machine is mounted on a carriage 3 having rollers 4 movable on a horizontal platform 2, this movement being derived from a rotatable screw 6 co-operating with a nut 7 rigid with the carriage. The platform 2 is connected to two parallel beams 8, 9 by means of four double-action jacks 11, 12 having rods 13, 14 connected to the beams, retractable locks 15, 18 on the platform and beams engaging apertures 16 in vertical racks 17 thereby supporting the machine 1 in the desired vertical position. In order to raise the platform 2 the locks 18 are retracted and the beams 8, 9 are raised by the jacks 11, 12 to permit the locks to be inserted in apertures 16 at a higher level; the locks 15 are withdrawn; the platform 2 is raised by the jacks 11, 12 and the locks 15 are inserted in higher apertures 16. Exact positioning of the machine 1 in the vertical direction is obtained by pivotally mounting the machine at 22 in a cradle 21 and actuating jacks 23.
