A metallic lattice beam comprises two parallel longitudinal members 1, 2 joined by a welded triangular lattice 3 and has a platform member 5 welded to one longitudinal member. The longitudinal members may be of different cross sectional areas and may be tubular. The lattice may be a continuous sinuous bat or separate bars and the platform may be a triangular sheet structure. The beam may be encased in concrete.
