Abstract

1,090,365. Floor cleaning machines. C.T. & R.E. Inc. Feb. 24, 1966 [June 17, 1965], No. 8302/66. Heading A4F. In a floor cleaning machine a motor 11 drives a spindle 15 carrying a flywheel 17 integral with an eccentric 18 which oscillates a plate 28 secured to a ring 26 frictionally engaged by a ring 32 on a cleaning element constituted by a sponge 34 fixed to a backing plate 33. The plate 28 is attached to the cleaner housing 12 by four springs 35 which hold it against rotation whilst permitting it to oscillate. A counterweight 19 is provided on the flywheel 17 to compensate for the weight of the eccentric 18 and unbalance caused by the eccentric motion of the cleaning element.
