1,090,286. Commingling liquid streams. D. H. BUTCHER (ENGINEERNG) Ltd. May 2, 1966 [Feb. 19, 1965], No. 7265/65. Heading B1C. [Also in Division A4] In mixing apparatus having an outlet at which commingling streams project from an inner and an outer tube, the inner tube is formed to a lobular cross-section; as shown it has four deep lobes 32, 33, 34, 35 connected at the centre 36. The area of the lobes is substantially equal to the exit area between the tubes and they extend back up the inner tube a distance sufficient to prevent splashing. The outer tube may terminate in a tapered ferrule (39, Fig. 7, not shown). The outlet may be applied to a tap for mixing hot and cold water, or to the mixing of liquids and gases or for producing striped extrusions of toothpaste, synthetic resins and sweetmeats.
