A ratchet handle comprises a handle formed from a strip of metal and having a dished part (12) between the upstanding side edges 6, a toothed wheel 7 located in the dished part, a detent 8 engaging the toothed wheel and a closure member 5 retaining the toothed wheel and the detent in the dished part. The detent is triangular and has two tooth-engaging prongs (8a, 8b). The toothed wheel 7 has an aperture of square or other profile adapted to engage a correspondingly profiled member such as a shaft or bolt head.
