Abstract

1,089,736. Cooling motors. AUSTIN MOTOR CO. Ltd. Oct. 7, 1966 [Nov. 23, 1965; Dec. 7, 1965], Nos. 49803/65 and 51761/65. Heading B7H. In a vehicle having a front mounted engine and the drive is transmitted to the front wheels, the power unit includes a hydrokinetic torque converter disposed at the front of the engine in a similar manner to that described in Specification 1,089,490, fan blades being formed on the rotary casing of the converter 2. The fan is enclosed within an annular radiator 6 which has radial airways. Air from the frontal intake 3 is directed through the radiator by shrouds 7 and 8. A. layout for a transverse engine is also described in which air is conducted from the frontal intake to the eye of the fan by a curved duct.
