Spindle apparatus. - The enlarged part b, Fig. 3, of the spindle over which the end of the bobbin ia intended tightly to fit is provided with spiral or annular grooves d. When a spiral groove is used, the direction of the groove should be such that the rotation of the spindle will tend to force the bobbin firmly on to the part b. Fig. 9 shows the invention applied to the rotating tube of a cup spindle. The tube m is slightly enlarged at the part m<1> near the wharve and is provided with a spiral groove d<2>, while the bore of the bobbin s is made conical to fit the tube at this part. A spiral ridge may be substituted for the groove.
