Abstract
1,088,908. Flue pipe terminals. GULF OIL CORPORATION. Dec.30, 1964 [Dec. 3, 1964], No. 52756/64. Heading F4J. A flue pipe terminal comprises a pair of similar, coaxial convex dises 32, 34 maintained in a spaced relationship, the disc 34 having an opening 12 in its centre for a flush - fitting flue pipe 10. The discs 32, 34 define a circular Venturi - throat restriction 36 causing a region of reduced pressure so promoting flue gas removal. The surface of an enclosure disc 38 is of a smaller radius of curvature than that of disc 32 so that an increase in wind velocity causes a net reduction of pressure above disc 38 relative; to below disc 32 so the discs 38, 32 and attached support rods 42 move upwardly in tube mountings 46 on lower disc 34, thereby increasing the volume of Venturirestriction 36 to compensate for the increase in wind velocity and to maintain a constant draught in flue pipe 10. In another embodiment (Fig. 2) the discs are supported in spaced relationship by rods linked together by a threaded bolt to permit manual adjustment of the space between the discs. Alternatively the discs may be mounted at a fixed distance by fixed supporting rods.
