Abstract

1,088,876. Electric motors. MINNESOTA MINING & MANUFACTURING CO. March 12, 1965, No. 10667/65. Heading H2A. [Also in Division G5] An electric motor for a tape feed mechanism (see Division G5) comprises an armature 74, Fig. 2, formed as a printed circuit on a plastic disc, the circuit co-operating with four commutator brushes (98), Fig. 3 (not shown). Associated with the armature is a fixed ring magnet 105 comprising a series of poles 106 separated by slots (108), Fig. 5 (not shown). The poles of the magnet are in close proximity to one face of the disc, and a ring-shaped return pole 116 is positioned adjacent the other face of the disc. The rotor is mounted in two fixed bearings 68, 70 and a third, radially movable bearing 134.
