Abstract

1,088,539. Variable resistors. R. HOPT. Dec. 21, 1965 [Dec. 24, 1964], No. 54051/65. Heading H1S. [Also in Division H3] A variable resistance and switch unit for use in tuning television receivers (see Division H3) comprises two separate resistance tracks 9, 10 whose clockwise ends are connected by a strip 11 which is attached to a contact 15, and whose anticlockwise ends are similarly connected via the back of the plate 4 to a contact 19. The slider 5 is connected via a diametrically opposite contact 20, slip ring 21 and strip 23 to a contact 24. The slider 6, which is at 90 degrees to the slider 5, bears on contact strips 25, 26 and changes from one of these to the other at the same time as slider 5 changes between the tracks 9, 10. The slider 6 is electrically connected to the chassis via the spindle 2 so that one or other of the contacts 27, 28 will be at earth potential depending on the angular position of the sliders.
