Abstract

1,088,373. Waveguide joints. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Sept. 9, 1964 [Sept. 18, 1963], No. 36787/63. Heading H1W. A continuously rotating rectangular waveguide A is coupled to a fixed waveguide F by means of a flexible rectangular waveguide E and a rotatable coupling B. The flexible and rotating waveguides are held in register throughout an angular movement of, e.g. 180 or 360 degrees at the end of which the coupling is released and the waveguides relatively rotated to relieve the deformation of the flexible guide until the two guides are once again in registering position. The locking and release mechanism may take the form of a friction clutch actuated, e.g. by pneumatic pressure. The flexible waveguide shown may be replaced by a twistable waveguide or by a flexible coaxial line.
