Abstract

Heavy-duty cleaning tablets having a fast dissolving rate, and of otherwise conventional formulation, contain sodium tripolyphosphate having a bulk density of 0.7-1.0 g/cc. and being substantially all in the Form II configuration. The tablets include both detergent and bleaching tablets. Typical detergent formations contain by weight: Sodium tripolyphosphate ...35-65% Sodium silicate.3-15% Sodium carboxymethylcellulose.0.2-1.5% Anionic or non-ionic surfactant.5-15% Sodium sulphate.Balance Many conventional surfacts are listed. A typical bleaching formulation contains by weight: Sodium tripolyphosphate.30% Sodium dichloroisocyanurate.40% Sodium alkaryl sulphonate.4% Inert filler (e.g. NaCl).26% Other active chlorine-containing compounds are also mentioned The tablets may contain conventional additives, e.g. lauryl diethanolamide. The Specification also states, as a corollary, that built cleaning tablets containing sodium tripolyphosphate of bulk density 0.7-1.0 g/cc. but of which at least 16% is in the Form I configuration have a slow dissolving rate, which may have certain commercial uses.ALSO:Heavy-duty bleaching tablets, e.g. for textiles, having a fast dissolving rate, contain as a builder sodium tripolyphosphate having a bulk density of 0.7-1.0 g/cc and being all in the Form II configuration. The bleaching agent may be di- or tri-chlorocyanuric acid or a salt thereof. A typical tablet formulation contains by weight: .sodium tripolyphosphate.30% .sodium dichloroisocyanurate.40% .sodium alkaryl sulphonate.4% .inert filler (e.g. NaCl).26% The specification also states, as a corollary, that slow dissolving tablets may be formed using sodium tripolyphosphate of bulk density 0.7-1.0 g/cc but of which at least 16% is in the Form I configuration.
