Abstract

1,087,669. Sliding window fasteners. G. A. MASON. Aug. 1, 1966 [July 31, 1965], No. 34466/66. Heading E2A. A device for applying pressure to a sliding pane of a sashless window assembly comprises a mounting bracket 10 adapted to be fixed to a window sill adjacent the sliding pane, an axle 16 carried by the bracket and orientated within the bracket to lie in a plane substantially at right angles to the sliding pane, a pressure applicator 12 having on one end a pressure pad 18 adapted to bear against the sliding pane when the device is actuated, the other end of the applicator being provided with an aperture 20 outwardly divergent at each end thereof and by which the applicator is mounted on the axle 16 for rotary movement about an axis at right angles to the axis of the axle, and a camming device 14 also carried by the axle 16 on the opposite side of the applicator from the sliding pane and mounted for rotation about the axis of the axle, the camming device having a camming surface 30a . adapted to bear against the applicator so as to rotate the latter whereby to move the pad into a bearing position against the sliding pane. As shown, the camming device is formed with a second camming surface 30b which is effective against a shoulder 22 on the actuator.
