Abstract

1,087,660. Tundishes. J. BASFORD. May 23, 1966 [May 26, 1965], No. 22320/65. Heading F4B. For use in casting low melting point metals, e.g. Pb, Zn and Al, a tundish assembly comprises a primary receiver 10 disposed for pivotal movement horizontally and vertically, connected to a secondary receiver 13 by a steel tube 12, said receiver 13 having a valve-controlled outlet 20 the valve 21 being operated by a bellcrank handle 26 through a rod 22, which handle 26 is used to move receiver 13. Receiver 10 is pivotally mounted in a U-shaped stirrup 14 on a second stirrup 15, the webs of both stirrups being engaged by a pivot pin 19. A support 33 is provided for the tube 12. Rod 22 is attached to handle 26 which is pivoted on a lug 25 welded to receiver 13, and said handle 26 also slidably engages a locating rod 28 under pressure of spring 30. Lifting handle 26 firstly closes valve 21 and then enables the receiver 13 to be lifted and moved transversely.
