Abstract

1,086,361. Control systems for vehicle headlamps. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. Feb. 4, 1965 [March 31, 1964; April 30, 1964], Nos. 13307/64 and 17942/64. Heading H2H. A lighting system for road vehicles of the kind in which the headlamps have main and dipped beam filaments is provided with a pair of electromagnetic relays so arranged that when the main headlamp switch is closed the dipped beam filaments are energized irrespective of the position of the dipswitch and that successive actuations of the dipswitch thereafter cause alternate energization of the main and dipped beam filaments. The relays may each be provided with a single energizing winding or alternatively each may be provided with a pair of windings one of which serves to actuate the relay but the other of which is incapable of actuation of the relay and serves as a holding winding only.
