Abstract

A submerged arc welding electrode has the following percentage composition:- .C.up to 0.25 .Ni.30-85 .Cr.10-25 .Mn.up to 6 .Si.up to 0.75 .Nb.0-3 .Mo.0-8 .Al and Ti.0-2 .Fe.(if any) the balance The electrode may be used for welding alloys consisting of 75 Ni, 15 Cr, 7 Fe or for facing ferrous materials and may be used in conjunction with either of the following fluxes:- .(a).alkaline earth metal oxides.35-50 ..silica.40-55 ..calcium fluoride.0-20 ..manganese oxide (as MnO).0-10 .(b).alkaline earth metal oxides.25-55 ..silica.25-45 ..calcium fluoride.5-20 ..manganese oxides (as MnO).5-18 ..sodium fluoride.0-10 The electrode strip has a width of 2 inches and a thickness of 0.015 inches.
