Abstract

A faller bar comprises pins set in a bar of plastics which includes longitudinal reinforcement. The reinforced bar may be initially formed with a channel (23a) (Fig. 2 not shown) in which headed pins 21 are secured by moulding with a plastics material e.g. nylon. Alternatively the pins may be moulded in a separate strip which is then fitted into the recess (23a). In another form the pins may be moulded directly into the bar. The reinforcement which may comprise a U-shaped wire mesh 25, a U-shaped perforated metal sheet 26 (Fig. 7 not shown), a single strip of perforated metal sheet 28 (Fig. 9 not shown) or wire rods 30 (Fig. 11 not shown), is arranged to be close to or at the outer walls of the bar and to lie outside the pins even with a bar having two rows of pins. Preferably the reinforcement is arranged to be U-shaped in cross-section and to extend into the end portions of the bar. Reinforcement of the material other than metal may be used e.g. glass fibre matting.
