Heading F2E. A disc for a spot-type disc brake comprises a ring 2 for engagement by the friction pads and which has an internal diameter slightly greater than the external diameter of a dished hub plate 1, so as to receive the latter with its outer edge 4 positioned within the inner edge 5 of the ring to leave a small gap 6, the ring and plate being coupled together for rotation either by rivets 12 or by threaded pins 3 each receiving a nut 10 and spring washer, which are located in opposing recesses in the ring and plate, so as to transmit the torque from the disc to the plate, while allowing the disc to expand as it is heated without distorting the plate 1 or being restrained thereby. The plate 1 may be used as a drum for an auxiliary or hand brake.
