Abstract
Sheet cellulosic material, eg. paper, has uniformly distributed through it acetanilide or para-aminoacetanilide, to reduce loss of strength with time at high temperatures. The stabilizing compound may be applied to paper at a size press between first and second drier sections of a paper-making machine. Synthetic resins, e.g. phenolic, epoxy, acrylic or diallyl phthalate resins may also be incorporated in the beating of the pulp or later from organic solution. The specification also refers to cotton cloth, cotton tape, pressboard and wood. The present stabilizing compounds may be used alone or in combination with those of Specifications 938,479 and 1,082,614 or U.S.A. Specification 3,102,159. The treated sheet material may be used to insulate electrical equipment, e.g. cables or transformers, as in Specification 938,479.
