Abstract

1,083,371. Valves. BRITISH OXYGEN CO. Ltd. March 4, 1964 [Feb. 28, 1963], No. 8051/63. Heading F2V. A valve suitable for controlling the flow of cutting oxygen in a flame-cutting torch, comprises a closure member 10 biased to close an orifice 5 by a spring 9. The valve is opened by depressing a plunger 12 to permit an extension 14 of auxiliary plunger 13 to unseat member 10. The projection may alternatively be on plunger 12 or member 10. Metering of the gas flow is achieved by member 10 co-operating with inlet port 6 and plunger 13 co-operating with outlet port 7. The member 10 and plunger 13 may be interchanged so that the valve is biased by the spring 9 to an open position.
