Abstract

1,082,973. Intruder and smoke alarms. INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT CO. Ltd. March 31, 1965 [April 2, 1964], No. 13702/64. Heading G4N. [Also in Division G1] In a photo-electric alarm system, the source of radiation, which may be a semiconductor device, is energized by an oscillator giving a pulsed supply and the detector circuit includes a phase comparator for comparing the phase of the detector output with that of the pulsed supply. The detector may also be a semiconductor device. The system may operate as an intruder alarm by directing the light beam across doorways, windows or the like or as a fire alarm which detects smoke reducing the intensity of radiation falling on the detector by comparing the amplitude of the detector output with that of the pulsed supply or with a voltage generated in a detector circuit amplifier.
