Abstract

Submarine vessels, trapping.-Relates to apparatus for detecting or trapping submarines or other submerged bodies of the type comprising a number of small floating vessels or buoys which carry a signal or alarm and support between them a sweeping network. The floating-vessels 1 are provided with idle propellers 8 which are locked by the forked end 20 of lever 21 connected by wire 22 to the hanging net 2. When a submerged body impinges upon the network, or vice versa, the network is moved so as to release the locking- lever 20, 21. The propeller is then rotated by the forward movement through the water so that its screw shaft 9 operates the lever switch 12, 14 of an electric signal lamp 18 or other alarm which thereby indicates the presence of the submerged body. The net is kept substantially vertical by floats 3 and weights 4, and the boats are kept apart by anchors 5 secured to cables 6 on winding drums 7.
