Abstract

A coated abrasive sheet material comprises a layer of abrasive granules firmly bonded to a backing by a hardened binder adhesive, said backing comprising a fibrous sheet treated with a unifying flexible film-forming copolymer of monomers comprising acrylonitrile and at least one acrylic ester formed by reacting an acrylic acid with an aliphatic monohydroxy alcohol having up to 8 carbon atoms, the ester component being such that, if one ester is employed, the polymer of the ester per se would have a glass transition temperature lower than 40 DEG C., or, if a plurality of esters are employed, the copolymer of the esters per se would have a glass transition temperature lower than 40 DEG C.
