Abstract

1,082,055. Brassiere frames. R. F. ROWELL. Aug. 18, 1964, No. 33713/64. Heading A3V. [Also in Division B2] An arcuate brassiere frame portion comprises a resilient metal core 17, having at least one plane surface in cross-section, coated with a liquid polymeric material 16, e.g. a plastisol or latex, which has a surface 18 of continuously curvilinear configuration at least where it covers the ends of the or each plane surface. A core of rectangular cross-section may be preheated to between 300 and 1000‹F. and immersed in a plastisol based on polyvinylchloride, the coated core being heated to 500-1000‹F. to set the coating on the core. Tips are formed on the ends of the frame by dipping the ends in epoxy resin which may extend over the polymer coating. If a latex coating is used, based e.g. on butadiene, styrene or neoprene, preheating; of the core can be omitted. A pigment e.g. titanium oxide and a deodorant may be incorporated in the coating. The whole frame may be coated or only a part 21, Fig. 5.
