Abstract

1,081,676. Cathode-ray tube circuits; transistor sawtooth circuits. MULLARD Ltd. Oct. 30, 1964 [Feb. 10, 1964], No: 5465/64. Headings H3T and H4T. In an arrangement for correcting pin-cushion distortion in a cathode-ray tube display by modulating the field sawtooth at line frequency, the field output stage comprises two transistors T1, T2 (Fig. 5) connected in a single-ended push-pull arrangement field sawtooth waves being fed to the base electrodes via terminal tf and oppositely phased line-frequency pulses derived from the line transformer via coils L10, L11 to the emitters and in order to prevent shunting of the line-frequency component by the low impedance of the field coils a capacitance CYS is employed in a circuit complex including the field coils LY and a field-frequency by-pass coil Lby to produce series resonance at line frequency. The non- linear characteristics of diodes instead of the input characteristics of the transistors may be utilized to effect the modulation of the field sawtooth by line-frequency signals (Figs. 6 and 7, not shown). An arrangement utilizing thermionic valves is described with reference to Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown) and the general problem is discussed with reference to Figs. 1 and 2 (not shown).
