Abstract

1,081,183. Pipe brackets. STEELS ENGINEERING INSTALLATIONS Ltd. Jan. 24, 1966 [Feb. 4, 1965], No. 4845/65. Heading A4B. [Also in Division E2] An arrangement for securing a pipe or cable comprises a retaining member 10 having a portion 11 adapted to embrace the pipe or cable to be secured which member is provided with a fixing portion 12 to be located on a co-operating member 14, and a preformed clip 13 having a bowed body portion with hooked end portions the clip being sprung in use over the fixing portion and co-operating member to hold the fixing portion firmly relative to the co-operating member. In the construction shown in Fig. 1 the portion 11 is substantially U-shaped and there are two fixing portions 12 one at each end of the U-shape portion 11 and two clips 13 are used for attaching the retaining member to the co-operating member 14 which, as shown, is a support member. A flat base plate 16 is interposed between the support member 14 and the member 10 to permit thermal expansion or contraction of a pipe to take place without causing damage. In a modification there are a plurality of members 11 with flat portions between each member and fixing portions 12 at each end, each of the flat portions and the fixing portions 12 being secured to the support member 14 by clips 13, a base plate 16 being interposed as previously. The clip can be modified so that it can be secured to an L-shaped support member. In a further modification the portion 11 is U-shaped but there is only a single fixing portion and the member 10 is used in conjunction with a member 27 which has a flat portion with a hooked end, the hooked end engaging a lip on the end of the portion 11 which does not have the fixing portion the member 27 extending across the mouth of the U-shape portion and terminating in alignment with the fixing portion; a single clip 13 is used and this fastens the members 10 and 27 to the support member 14. When the retaining member has a plurality of U-shaped portions 11 as described in the modification above, it can be used with a second identical retaining member which forms the co-operating member the co-operating U-shaped portions defining circular openings for the pipes or cables the arrangement being used to give addition support to the pipes or cables at positions between two support members.
