Abstract

The properties of the surfaces of shaped articles of polyacetals are improved by contacting the dry surface for 15 seconds to 30 minutes at 70-150 DEG C. with dry pulverulent camphor-sulphonic acid. The treatment may take place by dipping the articles in dry camphor-sulphonic acid fluidized with a hot carrier gas, e.g. air. The term polyacetals embraces homopolymers of formaldehyde or trioxane and their copolymers with cyclic ethers; the terminal groups may be esterified or etherified.
