Abstract

1,079,720. Controlling burners. HONEYWELL Inc. Dec. 2, 1965 [Dec. 7, 1964 (2)], No. 51263/65. Heading F4T. In an electrical control system for a burner having a main burner with a normally closed electrically energizable fuel valve 12 but no pilot burner, the fuel is ignited by an ignition transformer providing a high voltage spark and the system includes a timing capacitor 29 charged at the start-up of the system and then disconnected from its source of supply to become connected as the sole source of supply to energize the valve 12 and open it for an ignition period limited by the discharge time of the capacitor. Sending of a flame by a photocell 18 causes a relay B to be energized, capacitor 29 recharged and the valve 12 kept open. In modifications the flame is sensed by a probe or by a photo-conductor and transistor circuits.
