Abstract

1,079,447. Window guards; turn button fastenings. M. E. DODGE. April 29, 1964 [April 29, 1963], No. 16845/63. Headings E1J and E2A. A window guard comprises an openwork panel 15 overlapping the window frame 11 which has mounted thereon at opposite sides a cylindrical housing 16 arranged to pass through an aperture 32 in the frame 14 of the panel 15 and slotted at 28 to accommodate tongues 25 pivoted at 26 in the housing and having arcuate portions 27 engaging a toothed rack bar 23 axially movable to rock the tongues into the operative position shown to secure the panel 15 to the frame 11 in which position the bar 23 is looked by a key-operated latch 30 which is brought into the path of movement of a projection 31 on the bar. The housing may be replaced by a projecting loop which projects through the aperture 32 and is locked therein by the loop of a padlock passed through the projecting loop.
