Abstract

1,079,233. Feeding webs. NEW JERSEY MACHINE CORPORATION. Dec. 9, 1963, No. 7683/67. Divided out of 1,079,232. Heading B6B. A web which has labels printed thereon and cut-away parts 53, Fig. 3 (or 50, Fig. 5) between the labels is advanced intermittently to a transverse cutting station and then to a labelling station by a pair of continuously rotating nip rollers, one of the rollers having a special surface which provides the intermittent advance of the web. This roller has a continuous raised peripheral region 62 which by co-operation with the other roller effects the feeding of the web until a cut-away part 53 of the web appears between the engaging roller surfaces. Advance of the web then ceases until another raised roller portion 66, which extends across the whole width of the web, engages the web bounding the cut-away part and resumes the advance of the web. The operation of the printer (15, Fig. 1) is controlled by a micro-switch (16) electrically connected to the printer by leads (17) and operable by a cam (18) carried by the shaft (19) of one of the feed rollers at station (E).
