Abstract

1,079,203. Refrigerating vehicles. SOC. ANON. FRANCAISE DU FERODO. Oct. 23, 1964 [Oct. 28, 1963], No. 43291/64. Headings F4H and F4V. A vehicle-mounted refrigeration system comprises a compressor 2 driven via reduction gearing by the vehicle engine, a condenser 5 and an evaporator 7, a portion of the liquid line 6 being located inside a portion of the suction line 11 which is exposed to a flow of air when the vehicle is in motion, so as to evaporate any liquid entrained in the gas returning to the compressor. The vehicle may be rear-engined with the condenser and compressor in the rear, and the evaporator in the front, of the vehicle, the suction line being disposed below the vehicle body (Fig. 1, not shown). If the refrigerating system and engine are in the front of the vehicle the line 11 is arranged in a flow of air which has been heated by the vehicle radiator. Air is drawn over the evaporator 7 in a fan 8 and supplied to outlets 9a on the vehicle dashboard.
