Abstract

1,078,928. Rolling. SIEMAG SIEGENER MASCHINENBAU G.m.b.H. Aug. 23, 1965 [Sept. 8, 1964], No. 36111/65. Heading B3M Apparatus for cooling rolled billets or like stock, comprises a trough 4 full of cooling liquid and arms 1a-1c which receive the billet 12, the arms being pivotable in a vertical plane so as to dip the billet in the coolant. Arms 1a-1c are keyed to a shaft 3 and each arm has a pivoting lever 6 and a roller 7 which co-operates with a guide 10. Shaft 3 is pivoted by a lever 8 actuated by an electric, hydraulic, or pneumatic actuator 9. In operation, a billet passes from a rolling mill on to a roller table 11, and arms 13 having pivoting levers 15, push the billet on to arms 1a-1c. Actuator 9 is started so as to pivot or oscillate the arms, and the billet is cooled in trough 4. The arms are stopped in the horizontal position, and pushrods 17 connected to arms 13, having pivoting levers 18, push the cooled billets on to a delivery roller table 20.
