Abstract

Fabrics comprising a major portion of acrylonitrile copolymer which contains 40-60% by weight of acrylonitrile units, the balance being largely vinyl chloride or vinylidene chloride are embossed which imparts a pattern to the fabric and dyed, the dyeing process being carried out before or after the embossing process. When dyeing takes place before the embossing the stability of the patterned effect is increased by steaming at atmospheric pressure or above after the embossing process. Basic, acid and disperse dyes are used.
