Abstract

1,078,278. Electric correspondence control systems. ROBERT BOSCH G. m. b. H. Oct. 2, 1964 [oct. 4, 1963], No. 40126/64. Heading G1N [Also in Division F1] Fuel is injected by three out of six electromagnetic injection valves 21 during the unstable period of a transistorized monostable multivibrator 36, this period depending upon (a) the position of the movable core 41 of a transformer 40 which couples the collector of the output transistor 38 to the base of the input transistor 37, and (b) the value of a negative temperature coefficient resistor 67, coupled via a diode 65 into the output collector circuit. The resistor 67 is used to sense engine temperature, and more fuel is thereby injected when the engine is cold. The position of the moving transformer core 41 is controlled by the pressure in the inlet manifold 20, and each cycle of the multi-vibrator is triggered by a double-lobed cam 56 which rotates at half the speed of the crank-shaft and operates a switch 57 to momentarily earth a capacitor 59, the transistor 37 being rendered non-conductive when the switch 57 is opened. Successive output pulses are fed alternately, through an amplifier 34, to injection valve-driving transistors 32, 33, the switch 63 being operated by a single lobed cam rotating at the same speed as the cam 56. Modifications include connecting the n.t. c. resistor 67 to the collector of the transistor 38 Fig. 3 (not shown); or connecting the transformer primary 40 and the n.t.c. resistor 67 to the supply 51, and the two resistors 61, 66 to the collector, the diode being reversed Fig. 4 (not shown). A positive temperature coefficient resistor may be used, and is connected in place of the resistor 66, while the n.t. c. resistor 67 is replaced by an ordinary resistor. The injection valves Fig. 2 (not shown) each comprise a coil (26), a magnetizable housing (25), a fixed iron core (27), and a movable core (29) carrying a nozzle pin (28).
