Abstract

1,078,195. Running generators in parallel. KHARKOVSKY ELEKTROMEKHANICHESKY ZAVOD. Jan. 15, 1964, No. 27892/63. Heading H2H. An arrangement for equalizing the load on D.C. machines operating in parallel, such as D.C. generators or motors comprises connecting the field windings of the machines in two groups, one of which groups is connected in series with the armature of the same machine whilst the other group is connected with the armature of the other machine. The auxiliary field windings 1 and the compensating windings 2 are each divided into two parts and serially connected together. A differential compound winding 6 is connected in series with one pair of part windings 1, 2 to form a group 1, 2, 6 and a compound winding 5 connected in series with the other pair of part windings 1, 2 to form a second group 1, 2, 6. In the case of parallel operating generators the group 1, 2, 6 of each generator is connected to its associated armature 3 or 4 whilst the group 1, 2, 5 is connected to the other armature 4 or 3. In the case of parallel operating motors the reverse is the case with the group 1, 2, 5 of each motor being connected to its associated armature whilst the group 1, 2, 6 is connected to the other armature. Thus the cross-section of the connections between the coils is reduced and the number of terminals on the machines is also reduced.
