Abstract
1,077,490. Sorting documents. TELEFUNKEN PATENTVERWERTUNGS G.m.b.H. Oct. 22, 1965 [Oct. 26, 1964], No. 44854/65. Heading G4M. In a sorting machine, documents are sorted into pockets O-N in accordance with a character appearing in a given position on the documents and sensed at 3. A device 4 also performs a sequence check on successive documents to determine whether the characters which controlled a preceding sorting pass are in the correct relationship. If a sequence error is detected an output is obtained at 6 which sets a bi-stable circuit 9 after a predetermined delay and which passes through gate 12 to control device 4 so as to direct the out-of-sequence document to pocket R. If the next following document is also out of sequence another output is obtained at 6, and this passes through AND gate 10 to set a bi-stable circuit 11 and stop the feeding of further documents, all documents already in the machine being directed to pocket R.
