[Also in Division F1] A liquid fuel supply system, for example of a gas turbine engine, comprises a positivedisplacement fuel pump and a dynamic pump interposed between the source of fuel and the inlet of the positive-displacement pump, the dynamic pump being constructed and arranged to be driven in such a manner as to supply, even at moderate engine speeds, at least the major part of the required fuel delivery pressure, the pressure contribution of the dynamic pump being arranged to be controlled by the difference between the inlet and outlet pressures of the positivedisplacement pump in such a manner as to prevent at higher speeds the pressure contributed by the positive-displacement pump from falling below a predetermined value. In the fuel system shown fuel from a supply tank passes through line 1 to a dynamic centrifugal pump 2 which delivers fuel through an adjustable throttle 3 to the inlet 4 of a positive-displacement gear pump 5, the fuel delivered thereby passing through a control system to the engine. The pressure rise across the positive-displacement pump 5 is measured in a comparator 7 which gives a signal which is transmitted through line 8 to control the throttle 3. When the pressure difference across the pump 5 tends to fall below a predetermined value the throttle aperture is caused to be reduced and conversely.
